Mid Island Liquor Acquires Landlubber Liquor Store

Nanaimo, B.C. – Mid Island Consumer Services Co-operative (Mid Island Co-op) is excited to announce that it has entered into an agreement with the owners of Landlubber LRS Holdings to purchase the Landlubber Liquor Store located in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island. Pending the completing of customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close February 2, 2026.

“This new addition to the “Mid Island Liquor” brand will provide the opportunity for existing and new member-owners to use their Co-op membership number and earn equity and cashback,” said Ian Anderson, CEO of Mid Island Co-op. “The Co-op’s Board is excited with this latest acquisition as it supports Mid Island Co-op’s long-term growth and diversification strategy by providing our 80,000+ member-owners with increased options to shop local and to support their Co-op,” said James Bowen, Board Chair of Mid Island Co-op.

The Co-op intends to retain the existing team members and are looking forward to welcoming the Landlubber Liquor Store staff to the Mid Island Co-op team. Mid Island Co-op is proud to offer local employment and career opportunities to over 450 employees across Vancouver Island.
